My sisters can tell you, I’m a sucker for pop music. There’s just something about a good danceable hook. The only thing that tops it for me is a great remix. It’s like falling in love all over again.
This is a beautiful example.
The original song is sweet, catchy, high on production. Unfortunately for some ppl, I couldn’t get enough. That’s the allure-the all consuming infatuation, just like in Jr. High. I remember having to peg my pants every morning. I guess I didn’t do it right because I remember doing it again during 3rd and 5th periods. Ironically, they did sell tons of tapered pants at the time. I think I fell in love just as periodically as I re-pegged my hand-me-downs.
The trouble with falling in love so much is that you fall out just as quickly. Enter the remix, it’s like your “Ex” in a fetching new outfit, just without all the drama and guilt. And I think that’s what pop is about, guilt-free NCMO(Non-Committal Musical Openness).
